Cleaning pet accidents on carpet requires quick action to prevent stains and odors. Here’s what to do:

Fresh Accidents (Urine, Vomit, or Feces)

  1. Blot, Don’t Rub – Use paper towels or a clean cloth to soak up as much liquid as possible. Avoid rubbing, as this pushes the stain deeper.
  2. Apply a Cleaning Solution – Mix one part white vinegar with one part water, or use an enzymatic cleaner designed for pet stains.
  3. Let It Sit – Allow the solution to sit for at least 5–10 minutes to break down the stain and neutralize odors.
  4. Blot Again – Use a dry cloth to soak up the remaining liquid.
  5. Baking Soda for Odor – Sprinkle baking soda over the area and let it sit for a few hours (or overnight). Vacuum it up once dry.

Dried Accidents

  1. Rehydrate the Stain – Spray a mix of warm water and vinegar to loosen dried messes.
  2. Scrub Gently – Use a soft brush to work in an enzymatic cleaner.
  3. Repeat if Necessary – Older stains may need multiple treatments.
